Name: Dr MS Malshetty/ Age: 56/63 Kg’s/Ht: 5.9’/ Gender: Male/Non Alcoholic /Non Smoker /No BP/Non Diabetic, No Asthma One month back i.e. from 1st week of March 2011 sever back got started and the doctor advised complete rest for 3 weeks with diagnosing as spondlysis ,but even it didn’t come and again their was reoccurrence of the pain in the lower portion of the spine. We took him to ortho in Bangalore & he asked for MRI ,MRI impressions shown metastatic lesions on the L4 Vertebra After seeing the impressions the ortho doctor advised to consult to Oncologist And we went on to consult Oncologist accordingly. He further went to do series of tests and finally he had done a PET scan which shown the impressions as mentioned below. PET SCAN Impressions: Aden carcinoma with lung and extensive metastases (spread to the multiple organs like adrenal glands lymph nodes soft tissues liver lower region of spine and one or two place in brain, but doctor is not very much sure that it has spread to brain) Treatment: The patient has been given 10 tractions of radiations to the lower portion of the spine and the brain region and along with two cycle’s of chemotherapy (Platinum based drugs used i.e combination of drugs carbolpatin + Pemetrexe) for the first day and the second day he was given kemocarb. The first cycle got completed on 18th of March 2011 and the second cycle got completed on 7th of April 2011 The patient has responded well to the cycle and the pain has considerably come down in the back. Except he has loose motions and cough now it has come down. So I wanted to know how will be the further prognosis and since the patient is responding well as far clinical observations do let us know whether the mets have come down and will the chemo has stopped or slow down the growth of cancer cells? Also I request you to know what are the supplements should be given to the patient in order to ensure that he should not have any further complications on the present treatment. And also he should get better immunation and strength to face the further cycles of chemotherapy.
