Suffering From PCOS, Trying To Conceive. Taking Medication, No Improvement. Suggestions?
hi Dr. I am suffering from PCOS since 2011 and my age is 31 y. Currently I am trying to conceive. My Dr. has prescribed me metformic 500 mg ( 2 x daily) , M2 tone tablet (4 x daily), acetylcysteine Nacfil- 500 mg ( 1 x daily) and regestrone 5 mg ( 1 x 21 days starting from 5th day of cycle) Since 8 month I have seen any improvement. What should I do.

Hi, thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.
PCOS is due to hormonal imbalance. It is characterized by insulin resistance and infertility. Metformin corrects insulin resistance and also stimulates ovulation. M2tone is a natural supplement supposed to improve ovulation and fertility. N-Acetyl cysteine improves ovulation status, reduces lipid level, decreases weight and helps in correcting insulin resistance.
Regesterone is Norethindrone, a progesterone which acts as a contraceptive. In PCOS there is irregular period, and Norethindrone is given to regularize period. It results in withdrawal bleeding. Although the other three drugs improve ovulation, as long as you take Norethindrone, the chances of conception is slim.
In PCOS, ovulation inducing drugs like Clomiphene citrate are given to increase ovulation to improve the chances of pregnancy. Your treating Dr will know about this drug. You should stop Regesterone and if you don't conceive even after that, you should take ovulation inducing drugs like Clomiphene under your Dr's guidance.
I hope this is useful.
