Suffering From Androgenic Alopecia. Took Medicines, No Improvement. Suggestions?

hi doctor, iam suffering from androgenic alopecia type of baldness as mentioned by my doctor.i have been suffering from the past 2 and half years.i have started using mintop 2% and some vitamin tablets.i follwed for three months den stopped.Again after one year having loss in hair in the frontal area..i again went to a dermatologist n he gave me finax tablets, 5% minoxidal and amenexil solution(hair for u) bottle., follihair tablets,i follwed for three months and again stopped.But now i realize that much of my hair has been shedded off in the frontal region.suggest me how i should prevent this.

Hello,
Hair loss due to androgenetic alopecia follows a particular pattern according to familial characteristics and can only be temporarily controlled with the help of medications you are taking. The hair that has been lost over the frontal region is quite unlikely to come back despite the application of various lotions. The best way to get back your hair in the same region would be hair transplantation where hair from the back of your scalp would be taken and implanted in the bald area. This hair is quite resistant to falling off. Remember, evidence with other commonly advertised therapies like mesotherapy is lacking in the medical literature however popular they might be!

Hello dear,

Androgenetic alopecia, also known as Male pattern baldness, usually follows a pattern of receding hairline & is related to genetic makeup and Testosterone hormone.

Management includes:
1. Minoxidil preparation to be applied directly to the scalp to stimulate the hair follicles.
2. Finasteride preparations that interferes with the production of hormone linked to baldness.
But these medications have to be used regularly under the guidance of a Dermatologist...as hair loss tends to return on stoppage of these medications.

Those cases which do not respond to medical therapy, are managed by hair transplantation.

So...it will be better to consult a Dermatologist & start treatment.
