Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

I can understand your concern for your aunt. It wound have been better had you given exact symptoms of your aunt;s anxiety. Libotryp is a combination of two drugs (chrodiazepoxide and amitryptylline). Dryness of mouth can occur as a side effect of the drug.

I would suggest she consults a psychiatrist if she is already nor seeing one or talk to your current treating physician regarding the side effect. Alternatives like Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) like sertraline, paroxetine, etc can be tried which are safe as well as effective for anxiety. In addition, she can be treated with some benzodiazepine for short period for sleep disturbance till the SSRIs start showing its effect.

Hope this information was helpful. Best wishes.
