Suffering From Artery Occulusion. Black Spots And Redness In Feet Gone With Medication. Is It A Sign Of Gangrene?
my grand mother suffered from some artery occulusion for about 2 weeks when we made massages we noticed that she has 3 black spots on her toe first was dark black now she is in hospital after alot of medications the redness of a part of her feet gone and black spots changed to purplish ones might this be any sign of gangrene ???? plus she has diabet , as i read about gangrene black spots wont change color back to purplish color. We live in iraq some doctors with out making any tests or blood tests told us this is a start of a gangrene
There are no specific blood tests or other investigations to diagnose gangrene. It is done of the basis of clinical features like skin discoloration, severe pain followed by a feeling of numbness and at times, a foul-smelling discharge leaking from a sore. It appears to me that your grand mother's lesions started healing after being treated and that led to the change in color. Please continue with the treatment as it appears to have done her good. Please do not worry about gangrene. I am sure her doctor will keep an eye on her for any signs of worsening.
Best wishes.
