Suffering From Infection

I had an ear infection 2 weeks ago. I took amoxicillan for 13 days. I also took sudafed for several days because I have fluid in my ear and it won t go completely away. It is affecting my hearing and is worse in the morning and gets a little better as the day goes on. I quit taking the sudafed because I didn t know if I should continue taking it for an extended period of time. I just wish I could get rid of the fluid so I could hear normally. I can breath fine thru my nose, but I have some head congestion.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding ear infection and you have taken antibiotic for 13 days but your problem of fluid in ear is still persisting.

According to your medical history it appears as you are having secretary otitis media and this develops always by the blockade of eustachian tube. Now you may take-

1- Steam inhalation.

2- Anti histaminic.

3- Anti inflammatory.

4- Steroids.

5- Antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).

Probably above will help you otherwise you have to consult ENT doctor for examination and treatment.

Regards.
