Suffering From Mild Emphysema, How To Treat Cold And Cough?

i have mild emphasyma for 1 yr. i have a cold (i guess). i have a cpap, take anxiety meds and sleep meds (prescribed for lot of years). i am 68, could not sleep last night (about 2 hrs) couldn't sleep today because of coughing so much my abndomin hurts. i have taken coriciden, robitussin, a ginger drink, and a herb we grow at home to help with my cough. i don't know if i'm being parnoid, but wonder if a trip to the ER worth it? seems they want to keep me for 3 days every time i go to the ER, and only get a room on day of discharge.

I appreciate your concern, if you really do have emphysematous condition the you should be more careful while taking sedative drugs or narcotic preparation, anxiolytic drugs because these drugs causes the respiratory depression, I would advise you to cut down the un-necessary medicine till you came out of the respiratory pathology, if I would be your doctor then I would suggest the following medicine.
1) Tab. Prednisolone 20 mg three times in day (taper the dose by 20 mg every after third day in this way complete the 360 mg in 9 days)
