Suffering From Prostatomegaly, Painful Urination And Climax. Taking Geriflo. Suggested Scan. What Now?

hi doctor i am sadik 49 yers old working saudi arabia , almost one and half year i suffering prosto megalay before 1 & half year i consult doctor he suggested for scanning , scan report grade 2 prostomegalay after doctor give me one month medicine ie tablet geriflo after one month take re scanning report shows grade one prostomegalay doctor suggested take the medicine [ geriflo ] one year daily one tablet , that medical course end jan 2013 , 4 month every thing is normal but now i have suffering earlier problems eg take long time urinepass bcause urine comeout very slightly , in case of sex on climax i have feel light pain ... so what can i do please help me my bp sugar , cholesterol are normal.....

BHP that is benign hyperplasia of prostate (what you call as prostatomegly) is normal process with age. As age advances size of prostate also increases. Surgery is the definitive treatment for BHP. However there are effective drugs like geriflo which shrinks the size of prostate. You have again developed the symptoms of BHP, which means size of prostate is increasing or infection of prostate what is called as prostitis can also cause same symptoms. Pain during climax could be due to the enlargement of median lobe of prostate which presses on urethra. Repeat you ultrasound to look for size and weight of prostate and compare with previous one. If there is increase in weight or size from previous scan, consult a urologist and get your prostate removed. Prostate is removed by a operation called as TURP,in which no surgical incision is made ,but prostate is removed through urethra by a machine. If there is no change from previous scan most probably you have developed prostitis which can be managed by drugs
