Suffering From Viral Fever And Mild Pneumonia. X Ray Done, Patch Viewed. Cause Of Patch?

Hi Doc,
My mom is suffering from viral fever and has been reported by Doc that shes suffering from mild pneumonia.Since the cough has subsided she still coughs Also patch has been viewed in the X-ray. Doc says there is no more cough in the chest but couldn't trace what is the patch. Have been asked by Doc to do CT scan.
X-Ray impressions says that there is an III defined opacity in left lower zone.
Plz advice as what could be the cause.

hi..
your mother had lower respiratory infection resulting in pneumonia, and it is supported by the x ray finding that there is a patch/opacity. in the lower lung field..
pneumonia has pathologically 4 stages, congestion, Red hepatization, Grey hepatization and resolution.. the patch is due to first 3 stages..
your mother should take regular and complete treatment of 2 weeks for it complete resolution.. follow your chest physicians orders..
