Hellon and welcome,

Alpha dopa is used to control blood pressure during pregnancy however minor variations in blood pressure are a rule rather than an exception. So maybe it was a one time effect and dose adjustment is not needed.

So before changing the dose so suddenly on your own, please monitor your blood pressure every 6 hours atleast and make a chart to see how the readings stand. If it remains elevated most of the times then increase in dose may be needed.

It is better to see your doctor before increasing the dose by yourself as if the blood pressure is not controlled, some other parameters like urine albumin, kidney function tests and blood coagulation tests as well as an eye examinationand examination of the babies condition may be needed to determine how these are functioning.

The alpha dopa may be increased up to 500 mg every 8 hours after which if the blood pressure still shoots up then another drug may need to be added depending upon the other reports.

So please see your doctor before increasing the dose.
All my best wishes are with you.
Hope this satisfies your query.
