Suggest Cefdinir Dosage For Treatment Of Pneumonia
Hi what is the dose of cefdinir for someone with pneumonia. Been sick in bed with the flu for 10 days. Fever, aches, couch,, and more. Turned into pneumonia. Has been treated with Tamiflu, inhaler, cough medicine, now cefdinir. Prescribed 300 mg. 2X day for 10 days. She has taken 3 doses. No better. Trouble breathing . She is 41 years old. I have never seen her so sick. Should she go to the emergency room?
The correct dose of Cefdinir for the treatment of pneumonia is 300 mg by mouth twice daily for 10 days. Based on the history given the prescribed Cefdinir does not seem to be effective in eradicating the infections and she started developing some of the complications of pneumonia due to ineffective treatment. I would advise you to take her to the emergency room immediately for further clinical assessment and proper management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
