We just moved to Florida from Wisconsin. Last year while we were down here, I developed a severe case of chapped lips. I’ve tried numerous treatments. Nothing seems to help! I went to a dermatologist last year and he gave me prescription for triamcinolone. This helped for a while, but even that doesn’t help now!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chapped lips which could be due to persistent infection of hair follicle due to certain irritation. It could be due to dehydration and excessive sun exposure.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply petroleum jelly over the lips. Apply aloe vera gel as well to maintain moisture of lips and prevent them from drying. You should apply topical steroid drugs to prevent hair follicle infection and take oral and topical antiviral drugs in case of cold sore. Do not bite on the lips as it leads to exaggeration of symptoms. Consult a dermatologist once and get evaluation done. Go for patch test, virus culture and blood test. Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration. Maintain basic oral hygiene.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
