Suggest A Remedy For Discomfort In Chest After Eating Extremely Hot Food

I swallowed extremely hot mashed potatoes. It didn't seem that hot until it began burning in the chest region. The pain was intense. Since then I have been unable to eat anything warm or hot and I have pain in the chest area when I swallow. The pain is in my chest area and now my back. What can I take for the discomfort while the burn heals? How long should it take?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to swallowing very hout food there is burning of the lining of food pipe and there is severe Inflammation due to burning leading to pain and discomfort.
I would suggest you to take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and pain..
Drink plenty of cold water as or will reduce inflammation and sooth the mucosa..
Completely avoid hot and spicy foods..
Take a soft and demo solid diet by cooling it considerably to reduce chances of further irritation..
In case if the symptoms does not show improvement still consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and he can do an Upper G.I Endoscopy to check for the degree and severity of burn and treat you accordingly..
