Cardiologist 's  Response
Greetings. Thank you for your question and welcome to HCM. I understand your concern.

Nervousness and anxiety, in general, are accompanied with acute high levels of adrenalin and noradrenalin in the system. These, in turn, cause a lot of effects in the human organism and, of course, in this case, increased heart rate and high blood pressure. You can try a 7-10 day course with benzodiazepines with low dosages (sedatives), but only after you have consulted a clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist. This class of drugs helps you relax, prevent and suppress panic attacks or anxiety attacks. Also, there is a beta-blocker, propranolol, which is helpful in both reducing the heart rate and, also, reducing anxiety levels and prevent panic attacks. It is especially useful in people with public performance stress. I would recommend you to discuss the frequency of taking and the dosage, either with a cardiologist or you genera practitioner.

I hope I was helpful. Take care and good luck.

Kind regards,
Dr. Meriton
