Suggest A Remedy For Persistent Throat Infection

Hi, I have had a throat infection for the last 8 days now and haven't been on antibiotics. Only cough syrup, saltwater and other fluids. Today I experienced sensitivity in my right ear when swallowing. What other option is there to reduce the soreness and pain?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain sensitivity in the ear during swallowing along with having sore throat since 8 days can be due to ear infection that can occur secondary to throat infection as ear and throat are connected via Eustachian tube..
As it is 8 days and the infection has not yet subsided there is a possibility that you have bacterial infection in throat leading to Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis and the infection is extending in ear..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
You will be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti-Inflammatory painkiller like Advil or Aleve, do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations..
Antibioti ear drops can be advised..
You should also chew Vitamin C pellet daily and suck throat lozenge every 4 to 6 hours..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Sip warm water and take bland and soft diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
