Suggest A Remedy For Pregnancy Constipation With Bleeding Stools

Hello,
My name is Sarah. I am pregnant in my 27th weeks. i have been having pregnancy constipation since the beginning of my pregnancy. Last week i traveled long distance from Germany to the USA. The change of food made my constipation worse. This morning i went to the toilette after three days and the stool was very hard that i bled. I still have uncomfortable feelings and it still bleeds a little bit. should i be worried? should i go to the ER? Please answer me as soon as possible... im really worried that i may get infections or something because of the still bleeding caused by constipation!!

Hi Ms. Sarah,
The pressure exerted by the uterus on the bowels in pregnancy makes the constipation worse and added to that, it makes straining also difficult. You should get a local examination done to see if you have developed a fissure or piles. You should also see that your diet contains more of fresh fruits and vegetables and plenty of liquids. Also see that you are ambulatory as much as your situation permits. You can use local anesthetic application and also sucralfate to heal the wound if it is a small fissure. Lactulose may also be taken in small amounts to soften the stool. Hope this helps.
