I am living in China and broke my fibula Ice skating a week ago. I have seen the doctor, but the care is not very good. It is still swollen, extremely painful, discolored (the whole lower leg), and is very cold to the touch (from the top of the fibula all they way through my toes), feeling is also dulled. Is it normal to still have this much pain, swelling, and temperature difference in my leg after a week? The "orthopedic" doctor didn't try to see if there was any other damage other than the break in the fibula (muscle, etc). I also have fibromyalgia so that may play a factor in some of this too. Can you tell me what to expect and what to watch for, because the doctors here do not communicate with you very well and most don't know English.
I have been to the hospital and had a plaster cast put on, then I went to another doctor and now I have a removable cast. I was given tramadol and oxycodone for pain, but nothing for inflamation so I am taking over the counter ibuprofen. I have a wheelchair and crutches, have iced and heated it, and used lidocaine cream on it. Miss Stern
