Suggest Alternate Medication For Amlopidine

Is there another drug that I can take that would replace 5 mg of amlodipine thaty would be equal to it ,,and not have the terrible side effects to it . I take 25 mg of carvidelol and 5 mg of amlodipine for about a year after my kidney transplant. and blood pressure has been under control now ,with using these 2 drugs only. twice a day. Before kidney transplant been taking these 2 drugs plus sular 60 mg and enalepril 5 mg. for about 15 ,to 20 years . I think the amlodipine has caused vessel leakage in both inner legs to an open sore ,due to the drug expanding my blood vessels .One leg has healed but 1 leg is still leaking clear yellowish fluid ,,which is from blood in the veins ,and edema in left leg . Can you give me your expert advise ?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that olmesarten or telmesarten can be taken to replace amlodipin as they are safer drugs for kidnies as well. but should consult your nephrologist first regarding change of medication.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
