Suggest Alternate Medicine For Zanocin For Urine Infection In A Child?

Hi.. I have a 3.5 years old daughter. She had acute urine infection and the pediatrician had prescribed Zanocin 100ml but my daughter refuses to take the syrup and forcing it down her throat is done after a lot of drama and it is quite distressing to see her cry so much to take just one syrup. Is there any other medicine that we can give her ..please answer

Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your problem.
Zanocine is quite bitter so your child is refusing to accept it like many other. Here, you have two options, one is continue your efforts to give Zanocine for prescribed period, try new ideas like give her a toffee or something that she really likes if she takes the medicine. Second option is to switch to another antibiotic. Here, cefixime is a good option for her, as it is much less bitter and is active against UTI. It is available in tablet and syrup form with trade name of Zifi.
You can switch to this antibiotic after consulting your doctor.
Hope this will be helpful.
Please let me know if you have any further questions. Take care.
