Suggest Alternate Remedy For Facial Cyst Operation

Ive had a cyst on face eyebrow for about 4 years, ive been told the only way to get rid of it is for surgery... im not too keen on surgery cause ive heard you have to be awake for this sort of operation ? It beco es really small then comes back twice the size, atm it is huge and its really painful. Is there so sthing i can do to stop it from hurting so bad? As i find it painful to even touch my face/eyelid

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Cysts are fluid filled cavities that are lined by epithelium. It is true that the only way to get permanent relief from cyst is its surgery that removes the swelling along with its lining. It ensures its complete removal without chances of recurrence.

With any other treatment or medicines, you may find temporary relief from the swelling and pain while it will always return. Usually, the cysts are painless and they can be left where they appear if they do not cause any discomfort. However, pain starts when it gets infected. Thus, you can get painkillers that suit you like Acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice a day to have relief in pain, but the permanent solution will always be surgery.

There is nothing to worry about these surgeries as they are treated routinely in a doctor's office and it is considered a minor surgery with minimum chances of complications.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
