Understanding your concern. As per your query you son have cough and cold which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection known as common cold which is a viral infection. It is due to increased susceptibility of getting infected due to poor immunity of body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for proper examination and diagnosis . Doctor may order certain test like blood test , viral culture test and throat swab test. Doctor may prescribe X-ray chest. Doctor may prescribe anti viral drug acyclovir, decongestant and anti inflammatory. You can continue with original medication as well. Do warm saline gargles daily. Avoid intake of cold beverages along with hot, spicy and sharp food.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
