Suggest Alternative Medication For Severe Headache

I have had chronic migraines with stroke like symptoms for the last few years. I am currently given botox, but it hasn t worked for the last 2 doses. I supplement with butabitol. I try not to take it often. The last 3 months I have had a headache daily. They are increasing in severity and becoming almost unbearable. I talked to my GP and she suggested a headache clinic, but there is a 3 month wait. Any suggestions?

Hi,

There's rather a lot. Topamax, amitryptiline perhaps other anti-epileptic medications as preventatives and the tryptans are generally first line for pain treatment. There are several tryptans and failing one does not mean they all will fail.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
