Suggest Alternative Medication In Place Of Glycomet

I am advised on taking Glycomet - 500 S.R. tablets from October 2015, but with that am getting increased hunger and right side abdominal pain, also observed partially having IBS Syndrome. When stopped for a week, My hunger levels and abdominal pain disappeared. But, in a week when checked my sugar levels came upto 273 .. :( Please advise what should be the ideal tablet for my sugar levels.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Glycomet is the trade name for the medication metformin which is a very commonly used diabetic medication.
There are different types of metformin made by different companies. Because they are made by different companies, the side effects may also vary slightly.

If you try the metformin with a different brand then it may be better.

Alternatively there are other diabetic meds such as (1) sulphonyureas such as diamicron, amaryl etc
(2)meds such as januvia, galvus
(3)insulin
(4)liraglutide, exenatide

I hope this helps
