Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Alternative Medication In Place Of Lisinopril And Losartan
Is there older medication that s been tried and proven safe for high blood pressure? If so, what s it called so I can ask my doctor? Tried Lisinipril, Losartan - both make me tired and sleepy, and don t improve my blood pressure. I have allergies to dust, mold, bee stings, shellfish.
Dear Patient, Thanks for contacting HCM If you are not able to tolerate either Lisinopril or Losartan and your Blood Pressure is not controlled even after 1 month of use, you can take Amlodipine ( Calcium Channel Blocker), Atenolol ( Beta Blocker) or chlorthalidone (diuretic) for control of blood pressure. All of these medication can help you to control your blood pressure. You have not mentioned your Blood pressure and when and were it was taken. I would advice you to take regular blood pressure at different times of day (once or twice daily) for 5-7 days and note them down. You can take these reading to your doctor which would help him selecting the drug which is best for you. Also, it is important to take your BP medicine regularly and not to stop taking them. Hope this has helped you Regards
