I have been taking Prolia since 2 August 2016 and I feel worse. I do have osteoporosis. Had a compressed fracture in November 2016 from a fall in the spine at L1. Arthirits in my hips has been bothering me since Aug after taking Prolia in Aug 2016. My elborws, hands hands are swollen, don t walk like I use to and I feel crippled. What can be done without taking Prolia. I can t take Actonel because of Sjorgren s and the GI doc told me to stop it because I don t swallow my food easily. I am 77years of age.
If you are not comfortable with the drug or if it is causing some adverse effects, the following can be considered as alternatives.
1. Alendronate and Risedronate.
2. Ibandronate to prevent and treat osteoporosis.
3. Zoledronic Acid is to be taken to treat osteoporosis and to help prevent it.
Kindly consult your doctor before changing the medication, which could suit your needs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
