Suggest Alternative Medication In Place Of Sumatriptan For Migraine

I have suffered from migraines since I was about 9rs old. I was taking sumatriptan for several years and it worked pretty good. Now the past couple yrs the dr wont let me take it because of a heavy feeling in my heart so I am wondering if you can recommend anything else. I have tried the preventatives but they don t seem to work for me

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Sumatriptan is not prophylactic medication for migraine

It is used when acute migraine attack comes

It has cardiac side effects as well

Hence better to stop it and if needed prophylactic treatment with topiramate or amitryptillin like drug can be started

Avoid migraine precipitating factors.... Like....
-Hypoglycemia
-lack of sleep
-irregular meal
-Smoking
-stress
-bright light
-prolonged working on computer without taking rest etc..

Take care

Hope your concern solved

Consult psychiatrist for examination and discuss treatment plan for migraine
