Suggest Alternative Medicine For Pain In The Ankle

Hi, my daughter had non-febrile seizures at the age of 2.5 yrs and we had all the diagnostic test like EEG, CT Scan and MRI s done. Non of the reports had any abnormality. most of the doctors and paediatric neurologist suggested her for a prescription of 6ml morning and 6 ml evening of Eptoin syrup for the next 5 years. after the first couple of seizures, by god s grace she never had any so far. but off late since 3 months she has been having agonising ankle pain. this especially is in the nights and subsides with a massage and painkiller syrup like combiflam or ibugesic. we got this checked with different doctors and were asked to get phenytoin assay test done. this test showed her phenytoin levels less than normal values. doctors advised that the ankle pain is because of low levels of eptoin and that we need to increase it to 8 ml twice a day. Please advise if this is a side-effect of eptoin, if there is any alternative. and is it the cause for my daughter not able to enunciate letter K. Your suggestions would be highly appreciated.
