I have migraine headaches, approximately three times per month. I am prescribed Sumatran (2-100 MG) per attack, but my insurance only pays for 9 pills per month? I do not see how the medication could be abused, but there must be a reason. I am looking for a medication I can use for an entire month?
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
However it is a little unclear why do you need more than 9 pills a month if you have approximately 3 attacks per month. It is taken only to interrupt a migraine attack and not more than 2 pills per attack are advised. So you should need about 6 pills per month. It is not something which is taken all month long. It is not a preventive medication, only used to abort attack. If it is deemed that preventive medication is needed then other medications are used like depakine, topiramate, propranolol, flunnnarizine, amitriptyline etc, there are several different classes to choose from based on age and characteristics of the patient.
