Suggest An Alternative Drug To Clopidogrel

After having a heart attack and then congestive heart failure, my husband was put on a number of heart medications including clopidogrel, carvedilol, furosemide, losartin and atorvistatin . I have heard that clopidogrel is a very dangerous drug. Should he ask for something to replace this drug? He is taking 75 MG daily? The only noticeable side effects are some yellowing of his skin and his balance is not as good as it was.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Clopidogrel is a safe and universally prescribed drug. If he can not tolerate it, he can try alternatives like prasugrel or brilinta. Consult a cardiologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
