Suggest An Alternative Medicine For Clindamycin

I recently had breast reconstructive surgery, also have bone cancer, surgeon told me to take clindamycin if having even my teeth cleaned, recently my teeth are cracking and breaking, I have a dental apt. Tomorrow, but I had an awful reaction to the RX, am allergic to penicillin. Is there another Rx I can take which will not make me so sick? 52-year-old, female, 5ft4in 109lbs.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain as you are having bone cancer and breast reconstructive surgery done then you will probably have low immunity that will lead to increased probability of infection, therefore for this reason only you are advised to take antibiotics before teeth cleaning..

In case if you are allergic to Penicillin and also you had side effects to Clindamycin, my suggestion is not to take any antibiotic without proper checkup and evaluation by your dentist..

However for individuals allergic to penicillin, other antibiotics like Cephalosporins, Macrolides etc can be given but only after a proper consultation with Oral Physician..
Along with it you can do concentrated antiseptic mouthwash gargles..
Do warm saline gargle..
