Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
okay....Originally I was taking Paxil....beginning at age 25. This was changed to Citalopraam & I continued to take this pretty consisently (20 mg). I am now 43 yrs of age. I have just increased to 40 mg after ok from my pcp. It seems like such a long time to take the same drug. Is there something better???
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Citalopram is a very good drug and side effects are very minimal. The good thing about Citalopram that it does not produce dependence thus it is recommended for long term use. Many doctors prefers Citalopram over other SSRI, you have any side effects which affects your routines you can try alternative like Escitalopram.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
