Suggest An Alternative Of Wellbutrin

I have MS and several issues but, have been on Wellbutrin generic since 1989! It no longer seems to work at 100mg twice per day! 150 mg causes a bright red rash in pressure areas like watch or rings and even clothing! Was told this was common. I need another anti-depresent but the new ones terrify me due to side effects! Any recommendations? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

If welbutrin is not working well for you, you can switch from welbutrin to effexor. Effexor is also an antidepressant similar to welbutrin. The starting dose of effexor XR is 75 mg once daily. The dose can be slowly titrated up to 225 mg as needed. Please be advised to follow up with your treating physician to switch to effexor XR.
