Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

I understand that you are concerned about your father's psychiatric problem. Schizophrenia is a chronic mental illness which requires long term treatment. Treatment is with anti-psychotic medication like Risperidone, Olanzapine, Quetiapine, Aripiprazole, etc. The choice of medication will depend on a number of factors like the nature of symptoms, side effect profile, cost, etc. So, I would suggest that you take him to a psychiatrist for starting treatment. Medication has to be taken regularly and usually for a long time.

Wish you all the best.

Regards,
