Suggest Anti Dandruff Shampoo For Oily Scalp

Hi my daughter has dandruffs and an oily scalp (not dry). All dandruff shampoos I find are for dry scalps. Could you recommend a shampoo for an oily scalp? In Europe she applied Rene Furterer Melaleuca Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (For Oily, Flaking Scalp). Is there an equivalent here in the USA?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of oily scalp Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like

- dry skin
- irritated skin
- not shampooing often enough
- chronic inflammatory skin condition like psoriasis , fungus
- sensitivity to hair care products.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to shampoo often which contains salicylic acid or Ketoconazole. You should avoid styling products, hair sprays, styling gels. Sometimes stress can also cause such symptoms, so try to reduce stress. You should eat a healthy diet and get a little sun exposure.Consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. Doctor may prescribe antifungal medicine.
