Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had acute bronchitis for about 2 months. The 1st course of treatment was Zithromax and a nebulizer treatment, 2nd course was augmentin w/depo Medrol injection, 3rd course was 1mg rocephin I.M. one week ago. The bronchitis has cleared considerably but isn t gone, still coughing up white sputum. Do I just need to give the rocephin more time, or do I need another course of antibiotics. The last time I had this, I went thru 9 courses of antibiotics, with rocephin being the last resort. I do have a minor case of Lupus
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of acute bronchitis. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are either due to poor immunity of body and leftover infection. I would suggest you to take benadryl twice a day and keep yourself hydrated and eat light and non spicy . If condition persist or you experience difficulty in breathing then consult allergy specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may give adrenal short to prevent anaphylaxis and prescribe anti inflammatory along with immunosuppressants . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
