In Ayurveda this is called 'MANDAGNI' i.e. the 'Agni'(fire) has gone 'Mand'(diminished) and the term is used for 5000 years. The basic principle is to flare the 'Agni' with 'Agni Deepak' herbs.

Ayurveda says if fire is balanced, only then its State of health among other normal factors.

Chitrak, Dalchini, agnideepak powder containing minerals n salts etc are a few such things. These facilitate flaring of fire, digestion correction and help evacuate gut properly.

Then food protocol like drinking fresh buttermilk, avoiding drinking of water immediately after taking meals, avoiding heavy food intake are some of the simple conditions to help flaring the fire. Classical Medicines have all the inbuilt actions described hitherto.

Ayurveda has pioneered treatment in such conditions without side effects. It should be preferred whenever you have the opportunity to access it.
