My age is 55. My ht is 5 ft 3 inches and weight is 115 pounds or sometimes less for the past 20 yrs. I almost walk for 30 to 40 minutes every day and always active, don t eat any processed foods. I am taking procardia for my high HP since I was 35 yrs old. I do have hypothyroidism ( Hashimoto which was gyrating but recent bloodreport shows that it s fine. I m taking synthroid 75 mg for the past 7 yrs. My BP is high like 130/80 or 132/80. My doctor after my blood work which stated that I have an increased risk for diabetes ie. 6.0 has prescribed Amlod 5 mg and Lozart 50 mg. I m little worried about my risk for diabetes. Is it due to my uncontrolled bp? What should I do to reverse my diabetes risk?
Hello, Uncontrolled hypertension or high blood pressure can not precipitate diabetes. To avoid getting diabetes, the best way is to do regular exercises for 30-45 minutes a day,be in your normal range of BMI and a very controlled diet where you should avoid sweets, saturated fats, junk goods, colas, deep fried foods etc.Take more of fresh fruits and green vegetables.
