Suggest Cause And Remedy For Painful Periods

Hi, I have very painful periods! During my period i get sharp pain just above my vagina and its so sore to sneeze or cough and even go to the toilet! I went to the doctor and she told me its just cramps and to get over it basically but im worried its not just cramps because my pains are that sore and i know the difference between cramps and what im experiencing. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks
