Suggest Cause And Remedy For Swollen Feet And Ankle

I work with a woman who has recently developed swelling in her feet and ankles. I don t know much about her health history, but she is quite heavy and does not eat well and does not exercise. She says that she has a sensation like hot needles throughout the day. Our jobs are sedentary, desk jobs. I told her to drink plenty of water, and she says that seems to have helped a bit. Could this be a symptom of diabetes?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to HCM,

I understand your concern, since you not mentioned the age and body weight it is difficult to diagnose. Since you told she is quite heavy and having sedentary life, there may be a chance of diabetes. So to rule out that do fasting and postprandial blood glucose test. Advice her to do regular exercise Hope this information is helpful and have a nice day, take care.
