Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear friend i can understand your concern.
in my opinion shifting an elderly patient from metformin to gemer is not a good move.most of elderly patients are prone for hypoglycemia

In this age hypoglycemia can be very fatal some times.

in my opinion she can be kept on some milder medications like januvia or galvus

Having good blood sugar is not the only treatment in diabetes we need to give good quality of life also.

the new research like ADVANCE trial is telling that aggressive control of diabetes is bad in elderly and will give fatal out come.

change of medication can be titrated in a slower rate
I suppose I have given the desired response if you have any other query please write back.
