Suggest Cause For Recurring Abdominal Pain

my 14-yr old son is complaining of a recurrent abdominal pain. he was subjected to an x-ray on his flat plate abdomen and noted a faint calcific density at the left paravertebral area L3-L4 level measuring 0.3x0.30cm. and the impression is consider ureterolityhiasis, middle third, left. he said he doesn't feel any pain/problem urinating. please help me understand what causes his abdominal pain. thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, your history suggest, child has ureteric stone in left side.
If i were your treating doctor, then i would suggest
1) There are more chances that stone of size 3x3mm would rapidly pass through.
2) I would recommend to consult an urologist to asses the type of stone and the medical intervention needed to dislodge the stone.
3) Recurrent abdominal pain may be caused due to impeding stones that requires intervention.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
