Suggest Causes For Black And Itchy Finger Tips

my friend is suffering from black finger tips during winter...it starts to get itchy when gets warm....blackeing occurs only on the little finger of foot.could anyone please suggest me what one can to to stop this,what are the causes and what actually it is being called in general language and in medical term
