Suggest Correlation Between Cholesterol & Sgpt Levels
Hi I am male 33 years and have high sgpt in order of 75 - 80 since last 5 years or so without any major problem. But recently i got high Cholestrol of 276 and LDL of 200. My hep a, b tests are negative ! I am worried because i have a balanced diet, with no alcohol, no smoking and pure veg. I am 71kgs, and height of 5ft 8inches. Also, slightly lower platelet count of 1.9 lakhs. Is there a link between high cholestrol and sgpt? please suggest.
hello,i have gone through your question. Thanks for using HCM.There are 3 possibilities for high cholesterol and raised SGPT. 1.If you are taking statin group of medicine to lower cholesterol, then high level of SGPT may be due to effect of medicine on liverand is not much of concern. 2.If you are alcoholic then this level of SGPT may be indicator of early alcoholic liver disease. 3.A condition called metabolic syndrome where in one may have high lipids, obesity, fatty liver and increased insuin resistence. If you do not fit into first 2 categories, you should go for evaluation for 3 rd possibility as you have already ruled our viral infection of liver. My best wishes Dr.Teli,MD
