Suggest Cure For A Swelling On The Neck

I woke up one morning and felt pain on my right side of my neck when turning. I thought that I might have slept on one side only and develop a stiff neck. The pain went away after a week but the a swellingdeveloped and was still there for a month now. I do not know if it is a swollen gland or not. I got medication for pain and cream (deap heat) to rub on the swelling but it is still there. I did had swollen gum during that time. I am not sure if this is the cause.
