Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
You have a skin condition known as Melasma.
Melasma presents as brownish
hyperpigmentation predominantly over the malar prominencies, dorsum of nose and sometimes on forehead, upper lip as well.
Sunprotection is an essential part of treatment of melasma.
A broad spectrum sunscreen should be used regularly throughout the day. A sunscreen with an spf of 30 or more classifies as a broad spectrum sunscreen; it should be reapplied every 2-3 hours whenever outdoors.
Besides, a pigment lightening ingredient e.g
glycolic acid,
hydroquinone, azaleic acid,
kojic acid etc also forms part of the treatment of melasma. These agents may either be used alone or combined together.
Glycolic acid helps exfoliate existing pigment while azaleic acid, kojic acid, hydroquinone inhibit new melanin synthesis.
I suggest you to visit a
dermatologist. Your dermatologist will assess and advice accordingly.
Your dermatologist might also ask you to take a few sessions of chemical peeling along with topical treatment. Glycolic acid peel is particularly useful for melasma
