Suggest Cure For Severe And Persistent Cough

Hello, I am curious about a condition my mother has. She has been having severe coughing fits, to the point where she becomes red from the force of the coughing. She tells me that the coughing is brought on by a tightness/burning feeling that originates from her throat and then travels down to her chest area. She says that this tightness/burning feeling can be brought on from a variety of factors: from simply breathing in to drinking cold liquids. Also, she says that these irritations and coughing episodes have produced clear phlegm. Can you possibly advise us as to what this condition may be? Thank you.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Severe persistent cough is commonly seen with lung infection and bronchitis.
So better to take her to pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
Pft is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
She will need antibiotics, inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) based on above reports.
Don't worry, she will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your mother. Thanks.
