At those levels, I dont think that a simple diet control and exercise control are going to be enough. I feel that a medicine will definitely be needed, and as such I think you should definitely meet a
diabetologist in the area where you are.
As for the exercise, the simplest statement is that he should walk briskly as long as possible till he is comfortable, There should be no exertion. Moderate physical exercise as tolerated is what doctors usually suggest.
As for diet, I need to know first what his regular diet is, his height and weight before I can give you a more accurate advice.
i would suggest avoiding potatoes, rice and non veg and sugars at least till we can have the answers to the details. Of course, i personally tell my patients that nothing is banned. Its just a basic moderation of the diet
