I am 38 yrs old and have had high triglycerides since 20 yrs old. My Cholestrol is high/normal. Triglycerides were 700's untreated 400's treated. Now that I am pregnant i can not take my meds.I am scared I am going to have a stroke or heart attack with this pregnancy. They say broccolli thickens blood, others say it is good to eat.....WHAT CAN I EAT????

Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic.
I have gone through your query.
I think I have understood your concern, I will try to suggest you the best possible treatment options.
1] First of all do not panic.
2] Please start with moderate exercise like walking, body streches.
3] Include plenty of water in daily intake.
4] Eat lots of salads like-cucumber,tomato, lettuce etc.Include fresh fruits like pear, nashpati, apple, orange or sweet lime juice.
5] Have portions of whole grain food preparations. 5 to 6 portions per day.
One bread slice/ 1/3 cup cooked rice/ half cup noodles/half cup pasta/ 1 small muffin is what I mean as one portion.
6] Avoid, strictly avoid--- bakery products, deep fried foods, refined sugars, refined wheat flour.
7] Have positive attitude, be calm, meditate. Develope new set of food and exercise habits.
Things will sail smoothly.
Keep check on lipid levels every 2 months.
I hope my answer helps you.
Thanks.
