Suggest Diet Plan To Control Weight During Pregnancy

I am overweight (40+ lbs over normal healthy) and am 15 weeks pregnant. I have already gained 10 lbs with this pregnancy. To keep my weight gain at the 15-20 lb range for overweight women, I planned to eat healthy meals during the day, from 9 am to 4-5pm but then not eat after 4-5pm (a time when I tend to make bad choices and overeat anyway). Since I have so much extra fat, is it okay for the baby if I go that stretch of 16-17 hours overnight without eating? I am consuming a healthy amount of calories, enough to maintain and not lose weight, during the day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think it is safe that you stay without eating for at least 12 hours because 16-17 hours is a bit longer. Remember to consume more fruits and vegetables and lean protein. Limit carbohydrates and pure sugar.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
