Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am Vegan on 10 mg PMS-Rampiril, after my third peripheral stroke, PONs area. Are there any foods which I should avoid while on this drug? I am also on ACT-Atorvastatin. I remember that my father had to avoid dark green vegetables while he was on blood pressure meds - or did that apply to his blood thinners? I take 2 baby aspirins a day. Thank you for your help. Could not find an answer online. My email is: YYYY@YYYY
Hi & Welcome. Thanks for posting your query on healthcare magic. I can understand your concern. You should avoid excess of dietary salt like pickles, salted dry fruits or other snacks. As the extra dietary salt may reduce the efficacy of Ramipril in reducing the high BP hence it should be avoided. Green leafy vegetables should not be taken along with 'blood thinners' like Warfarin as their high vitamin K content can reduce the efficacy of blood thinners. Your father seemed to be taking Warfarin hence the doctor had advised him not take the said vegetables. Since you are taking baby Aspirins but not Warfarin, hence there's no harm in taking the green leafy vegetables. Hope this answers your query. A feedback is appreciated.
